ROTORUA-TAUPO RAILWAY.
POLICY OF DEPARTMENT. FORMER EMPLOYEES ENGAGED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ROTORUA, Sunday. The following letter has been received from Mr. F. F. Hockly, M.P. for Rotorua, referring to local unemployment: "In spite of strong representations to the contrary, the Minister of Public Works, Hon. K. S. Williams, informs me that the work on the Rotorua-Taupo railway is being reserved in the meantime for the men who have finished working on the Tauranga-Taneatua railway. It will not bo possible to place on the Taupo section the men from the Rotorua district who had not previously been employed on the railway works."
