SOUTH AFRICAN POLITICS.
SPLIT IN LABOUR PARTY.
PACT NOT YET AFFECTED.
NATIONALISTS CLAIM SEATS. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received July 15, 5.5 p.m.) CAPETOWN. July 11. The split in the South African Labour Party will not precipitate a Government crisis, according to tho Minister of Justice, Mr. Tielman Boos. Ho says tho Prime Minister, General Hertzog, will merely acknowledge tho letter announcing tho expulsions of tho Labour Ministers from the Labour Party and tho pict will continue until the general election next year.
Mr. Poos, however, has dropped a bombshell for tho Labour Party by declearing that tho Nationalists will expect the six Parliamentary seats in tho Transvaal at present allotted to Labour. This may precipitate a Labour breakaway from tho pact.
