NEW BRIGHTON COUNCIL.

UNIFORMS FOR BANDSMEN. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN -CORRESPONDENT.] CHKISTCHUKCH, Thursday. In consequence of a report furnished to the Audit Department, at Wellington, by Mr. L. H. Jordon, audit inspector, Christchurch, in connection with tho uniforms for the New Brighton Band, the AuditorGeneral has informed Mr. E. A. M. Leaver, of the New Brighton Hbrough Council, that ho is disqualified from acting as a councillor, and any act now performed by him as a councillor renders him liable to tho penalties imposed by tho Act.

Mr. Leaver said to-day that he would consequently forward his resignation to the next meeting of the Borough Council. lie was eligible to stand for re-elec-tion, but ho said he would take time to consider the matter before making any decision.
