HOME-MADE MEMORIAL.

A home-made war memorial is erected on tho property of Mr. H. Driver, of Wakapatu, Southland. Mr. Drivor, who lives noar tho top of the hill between Colac Bay and tho Wakapatu beach, has erected a memorial about 12ft. high, depicting a Now Zealand soldier standing on a pedestal with his rifle at his side. It is composed throughout of cement and bears tho inscription: "In Memory of Local Boys who Fell in the Great War, 191419i8." On tho sides of the sauare pedestal are crossed flags and on the front a wreath ol bay leaves. The structure, which was erected by Mr. Driver in his spare time, is a very creditable piece of work for an amateur memorial builder.
