IDLE AND DISORDERLY.
TERM OF IMPRISONMENT.
Without a shilling in his possession, John Artlmr Crawford, aged 37, appeared in the Police Court yesterday charged with being idle and disorderly. In admitting his guilt, accused said he had been unsuccessful in his attempts to get work. Sub-Inspector McCarthy: Unsuccessful attempts 'I Why you have not mado an honest attempt to get employment. You were told to go to the country for work the last timo you were hero and you did not bother about it. Crawford: But I did not hear "Oh, you heard very well," said the magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean. "Opportunities only como once in a while. Remember that next time. You are sentenced to a month's imprisonment." John Johnson, aged 19, mechanic, was charged on remand with the theft of a watch, a fountain pen and a cigarette case. While staying at a city boarding house accused had stolen from fellow boarders. "Thore's good in him and X think he will go streight from now on," said Chief-Detective Hammond. Johnson was convicted and admired to probation for two years. To enable tho police to make further inquiries. another week's remand was granted in tho case of Neville Clifford Moller, aged 23, Edward William Keymer, ngod 21, and William John Robinson, aged 21, charged with breaking and entering and theft from a Birkonhead shop. Bail .was renewed.
