BOUND WORLD FLIGHT.
CAPTAIN SMITH'S- VENTURE. . 4 CREW FOR THE TASMAN TRIP. MACHINE TO BE OVERHAULED. 4 (Received Juno 15, 11.35 p.m.) MELBOURNE. June 15. Captain Kingsford Smith has invited Mr. J. Warner and Captain H. Lyon, wireless operator and navigator respectively of the Southern Cross on the recent transpacific flight, to accompany Mr. C. T. Ulm and himself on their forthcoming flight to New Zealand. However, tho two Americans are anxious to return to the United States and have reserved their decisions to see whether any Australian airmen volunteer for the honour. It is unofficially stated the flight to New Zealand will be conducted under the auspices of the Australian and New Zealand Governments. The aviators arrived at Canberra to-day from Melbourne and wore presented with the Federal Government's cheque for £SOOO. A cablegram from San Francisco says Mr. A. Maidment, an aeroplane engineer and aviation expert, who prepared the monoplane for her flight to Australia, has sailed by the Ventura for Sydney. There he will overhaul the machine prior to the contemplated round the world flight.
