UNITED FIRE BRIGADES.
i NEXT YEAR'S CONFERENCE. GRANT BY THE GOVERNMENT. The Acting-Minister of Internal Affairs, Sir Maui Pomare, has notified Captain T. J. Watts, advisory superintendent of the United Fire Brigades Association, that the Government has granted the request made by the execijttive of the association last month, and lias voted a subsidy of £IOOO and railway expenses amounting to £250 in connection with tho 1929 conference and demonstration, expected to be held in Auckland early next year.
