OWNER'S APPEAL FAILS.
THE PLACING OF JOHN DEE. EVENT AT OAMARU MEETING. [BY TELEGH.AI'H.—rr.ESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH. Friday. The trotting conference judges dismissed the appeal of C. J. Meade, owner of tile horse John Dee, against the determination of the New Zealand Trotting Association in reversing the placing of John Dee as made by the Oamaru Jockey Club following the running of the "Waikuru Trot at "Wingatui on March 23. The Waikuru Trot was run at the Oamaru Racing Club's meeting and was won by Needles, with John Deo second. After the race the committee held that J. "Walsh (driver of Needles) had unduly flourished his whip in the straight and the committee the placings, putting John Dee first and Needles second, and also fining Walsh A'lo. The matter subsequently came before the New Zealand Trotting Association, which decided that Needles would have won in any case, and that it would be an injustice to deprive the owner of the stake. The decision of the Oamaru Club committeo was then reversed and the race awarded to Needles, with John Dee second. It was also decided that the fine of £lO imposed upon Walsh _ be altered to suspension for the remainder of the season. It, was against this decision that C. J. Meado appealed.
