DEVONPORT COUNCIL.

IMPROVEMENT OF A ROAD. The Devonport Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. E. Aldridge, presiding. Mr. F. J. H. Ellisdon was appointed delegate to the conference on the subject of the Hospital Board levy. In connection with proposals submitted by the Wellington City Council for the establishment of a municipal insurance fund, the cle'rk wan instructed to investigate the cost of the scheme. An offer by the Auckland Gas Company to supply free cinder to improve tho road surface at the lower end of Abbotsford Terrace was accepted. It was decided to give attention to complaints regarding the storm water drainage at the corner of Cowper Street and Morley Avenue.

In its capacity us the Devonport Domain Board, the council decided to grant the use of football grounds to the Takapuna Grammar School on Saturday mornings, provided the playing area was in a fit state. It was decided to notify clubs that the allocation of grounds for football matches must be submitted to the board for approval.
