POSTAL PACKETS DESTROYED.
"CONVERSION" OF A CAR

A youth, aged 17, whose name was suppressed, pleaded guilty in the Fnkekohe Police Court to-day to destroying five postal packets containing chocolate, while an employee of the Postal Department, delaying delivery of a postal packet entrusted to him for delivery, and converting a car to his use. It was explained that accused had taken the chocolate for himself, and had also neglected to deliver at first a postal packet addressed to a person who resided some way off the road. These offences had resulted in his dismissal from the postal department. Later, he had taken a car from a garage at which he was working, and had a collision with another car, damaging it to the extent of £24.
Mr. .T. L. Conlan said arrangements could bo mado to place accused in appropriate employment under proper supervision.
Accused was admitted to probation for three years, special conditions being imposed, one of which was that he should make restitution of the £24. The magistrate, Mr.'J. H. Luxford, severely admonished the youth, and warned him to make the best of the opportunity now being-given him to rehabilitate himself.
