ATTENDANT CHARGED.

ESCAPE FROM MENTAL HOME. HELP TO EGYPTIAN PRINCE. LONDON. May 19. The police brought from Dover for presentation to the Hastings Court John Bastone, a former attendant at the mental home at Ticehurst, Sussex, who is charged with aiding the attendant Pilbearn to assist in the escape of Prince Ahmed Seifeddin from the home, on August 31, 1925. Bastone and Pilbeam, who were the Prince's attendants, disappeared at the same time as the Prince escaped from the home.

Prince Ahmed, who is a brother-in-law of King Fuad of Egypt, escaped on the night of August 31, 1925, and was later seen crossing the Channel to Boulogne. Two men with him were identified as his attendants, Pilbeam and Bastone. It was thought that they were bribed to effect Prince Ahmed's escape, by the. lattcr's mother, who at that time was living in Paris.
