NEGRO BOOTLEGGERS.
BATTLE WITH THE POLICE. TRAGIC AFFRAY IN OHIO. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received May 7, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. May 6.
Although heavily armed guards are patrolling tho city of Middletown, Ohio, there is fear of mob violence as a result of the killing of two white policemen in a battle with negro bootleggers, one of whom was also killed. The policemen had detected the negroes tilling bottles with liquor in a gravel pit. The negroes opened fire and a battle ensued.
