GAMING LAW BREACHES.
BETTING ON PREMISES. TWO MEN CONVICTED. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] TAIHAPE, Friday, Charges of using their premises in Hautapu street, Taihape, as common gaming houses were preferred against John Joseph Ryan and Cyril JTurphy in the Police Court (his morning. James L. Vickery was charged with assisting in the management of a common gaming house. Sergeant O'Neill said police had raided the premises of Murphy and Ryan on April 7 and had discovered the premises were used for betting purposes. Vickery was a clerk employed bv Murphy. All three accused pleaded guilty. Ryan and .Murphy wdre fined £SO each and costs, while Vickery was fined £25 and costs.
