ITALY IN MEDITERRANEAN.
CLAIM TO SUPREMACY. PEACEFUL LEVANT POLICY. GRAECO-TORKISH ENTENTE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received April 9, 11.5 p.m.) Times Cable. LONDON, April 8. The newspaper Popolo d'ltalia savs Italy is the Mediterranean Power par excellence, in explaining the Easter meetings between the Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini, and the Turkish and Greek Foreign Ministers. It says Signor Mussolini's only idea was to impress the Ministers with the fact that Italy's policy in the Levant is peaceful and that she desires their co-operation. The paper says a certain rower wishes to embroil the Mediterranean Powers with illegitimate objects, but Italy, which has established cordial relations with Spain, now seeks to co-operate with Turkey and Greece. Italy and Turkey understand each other, says the paper. Each possesses a great and heroic chief. Their meeting will dispose of the myth that Italy has aggressive designs against Turkey. She is also working to substitute a Graeco-Turkish entente for agelong antagonisms.
