A VISITING SURGEON.

_ hospital system praised.

TAUPO'S SPLENDID FISHING

>A former surgeon to the Viceroy of India, Sir James Reid Roberts, who is returning to England by the Aorangi tomorrow, is a most appreciative visitor to New Zealand. He has just returned from a fishing holiday at Taupo, and is enthusiastic in his praise of tlie sport to be obtained there. "It is the best fishing in the world," he said yesterday. "Marvellous ! Tho size of the fish is extraordinary." Sir James attended the Medical Conference in Hamilton and Rotorua, and he has visited the hospitals in Rotorua and Auckland, gaining a very favourable impression of the hospital system of the Dominion. "I think that the design and construction is excellent," he said. The tendency of modern hospitals is to have a series of units complete in themselves, and this policy of specialisation i; 3 carried out in New Zealand. It was on this plan that Sir James designed the L&dy Harding Memorial Hospital at Delhi, to which a medical school for women is attached. There are about 100 students - there, the great bulk of them being Indians or Eurasians.
