ATLANTIC SHIPPING.

AMERICA AND BRITAIN. COMPETITION IN STEAMERS. (Received April 7, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z GENEVA, April 6. The American branch of the Swiss firm of marine engineers, Brown Boveri and Company has received an order from the American Government for tho construction of six 36,000-ton steamers with a speed of 33 knots. Tho vessels are destined for a four days' service between New York and Southampton and are to compete with the proposed British 1000 ft monsters. The United States Government is to advance tho necessary capital at a rate of 2£ per cent, interest.
