EASTER TOURNAMENT.
BIRKENHEAD - NORTHCOTE. RESULTS OF SATURDAY'S PLAY. The Easter tournament under the control of the Birke<rihead and Northcole Tennis Club was continued on Saturday. Good progress was made with the various competitions. Play will be resumed <at nine o'clock this morning, and as most of the sectioas are nearing the semi-final stage, ti*e tournament should be concluded to-day. BIRKENHEAD-NORTHCOTE CLUp. PROGRESS OF COMPETITIONS. The club competitions of the Birkenhead and Northcote Tennis Club are now nearing completion and the -winners of four' championships have already appeared. W. Roberts has won the men's singles and the boys' singles. Miss J. Chambers the girls' singles and Mr. and Mrs. E. W. B. Herrick the Maxwell Cup for combined doubles. In the men"s doubles E. W. B. Herrick and D. Newman will meet H. W. Tyer and A. Cadness in the final. The ladies' singles will be decided in the match between Miss J. Chambers and the winner of the semifinal between Mrs. Herrick and Miss Steele. A semi-final match has also to be played in the ladies' doubles. Mjs. H. Weaver and MisS Mackay playing Misses J. and N. Chambers to decide who will meet Mro. Gray and Miss Major in the final. OPOTIKI TOURNAMENT. SOME FINALS DECIDED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OPOTIKI. Sunday. Ladies' Singles.—Semi-final; Mis 3 Kelly beat Miss Ferguson. 7—5; Mis 3 Burrett beat Miss Burt. 7—5. Final; Miss Kelly beat Mis 3 Burrett. 7—5. Ladies' Doubles.—Misses Short and Burt beat Misses Burrett and Braae. 7—3. Men's Doubles.—Final: Burns and Hawkins beat Main and Davies, 9—4. Combined Doubles.—Semi-final: Miss Short and Fleming beat Miss D. Larmer and Murray. 9—3; Miss T. Holloway and Mahoney beat Miss Burt nnd Reeves. 9—5. Final; Miss Short and Fleming beat Miss T.
