PIGEON FLYING.
— THE NORTH SHORE CLUB. HARD RACE FROM TAUMARUNUI. The North Shore Pigeon Flying Club held a race from Taumarunui, a distance of 144 miles, which proved a hard fly owing to adverse weather conditions en route, the birds being well separated. ■ Mr. A. E. Crowhurst's b c a Violefte proved the winner by a margin of 35 minutes. .Forty birds, representing ' seven lofts, competed. Results 1 : — Mr. A. E. Crowhurst'e b c h , Violette, 574 yds per ruin, 1; Mr. E. Andrews' b c h Suggestion, 532.4yd5, 2; Mr. J. Rawling's bp li Lady tfancy, 530yds, ! S. Mr. Fredatovitch's b c Matinee. 527 yds; Mr. S. Gorman's Whiz Bantc, 522 yds; Buchanan Bros. Hard Luck. 450 yds; Messrs. Best and Smith'B ; Early Moru, 400 yds, also competed. Next week the club will hold a race from Ohakune for a club trophy; •' -
