NOMINATION OF DELEGATES.

MANY INTERESTS REPRESENTED.

Most of the interests to be represented at the National Industrial Conference which is to open at the Parliamentary Buildings on March 27 have now appointed their delegates. In addition to the' Parliamentary Committee there will be present at the conference 25 members representing the employers, 25 members representing the employees, four economists, a representative of banking and financial interests, and departmental representatives.

The following delegates have been appointed:—New Zealand Farmers' Union, Messrs. W. J. Poison (Fordell), F. Colbeck (Morrinsville), R. S. Chad wick (Dannevirke), W. \y. Mulholland (Darfield), and J. Carr (Methven); National Dairy Association, Messrs. A. Morton (Egmont Village), J. G. Brechin (Pahiatua), A. Sterling (Hamilton), J. Fisher (Otautau), and H. Middleton (president of the South Island Dairy Association). These representatives of the dairy farmers are considering the matter daily, and will probably meet for a two or three days' conference to discuss the problem from all angles prior to the National Conference in order to have definite proposals to lay before it. The shecpfarmers' delegates will be Messrs. H. D. A eland, W. H. Nicholson (Christchurch), R. D. M.'Morten (Tai Tapu). 11. Gascoyne and either C. H. Williams or W. G. Sherratt (Gisborne). The economists will be Professor B. Murphy (Wellington), Professor A. M. Tocker (Canterbury), Professor A. G. B. Fisher (Dunedin), and Professor H. Belshaw (Auckland). The chambers of commerce are to have two representatives, of, whom Mr. D. J. McGowan will be one, and the other will be appointed upon the return of the secretary, Mr. C. M. Bovden, from Australia. After the announcement was made that the manufacturers' associations would be allowed three delegates, the Government was asked to grant one more, in order to permit of one being elected from each centre. The Government declined to increase the number, and the final selection will be made at a meeting of the executive of tjbo New Zaland Manufacturers' Federation in Wellington on March 21. The four presidents of the branch associations are ]Vfessrs. T. Somerville (Dunedin), T. J. Burton (Wellington), A. W. Beavan (Christchurch), and J. A. C. Allutn (Auckland). The conference called by the Employers' Federation is to be held on March 20, to consider the order of reference for the National Conference, at which five representatives will be appointed. The names of the employees' delegates have already been announced.
