ELECTRICITY CHARGES.
Sir,—Some weeks ago the Auckland public were advised of a reduction in the cost of electricity supplied for domestic use. Can any reader interested in the "Intellect Sharpeners" column solve this problem re reduction in cost, viz.: Old regime (Christmas quarter, 1926-27) consumed 500 units (approx.), 50 units at sd, £1 0s lOd; 50 units at 3d. 12a 6d; 200 units at lid, £1 0s 10d; total, £2 14s 2d; say, 2s 8d refund; payment, £2 lis 6d. Promised concession (Christmas quarter, 1927-28), consumed 300 units (approx.). 48 units at sd, £1; 48 units at 3d, 12s; 204 units at l£d, £1 Is 3d—£2 13s 3d; standing monthly charge (?) Is &d; total, £2 14s 9d: less, 2s 8d refund; payment, £2 12s Id. Puzzled.
