A MISSING MAN.

OHINEMUTU RESIDENT. SEARCH PARTIES SENT OUT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] ROTOItUA, Monday. On Friday morning Mr. R. H. Humphreys, of Ohinemutu, left his home with the. intention of taking a long walk as he wa3 not feeling well. He said ho thought it would do him good. Before leaving home he emptied his pockets of everything, knife, money, etc., and took no food with him. As he did not return on Friday night Mrs. Humphreys became anxious and inquiries were mado with the result that a boy, Keith Richards, reported having seen him on , tho Wairoa Road. Mr. Humphreys told the boy he was "not too good." Further inquiries elicited the fact that he continued in that direction. A roadman remembered a man of his description passing. Search parties were organised numbering about fifty in all, and searched in various parts of the bushclad hills- near Lake Okaraka. Mr. Humphreys' footprints wero discovered, being recognised by the peculiar rubber soles he had on his booi.s. He was travelling over country far.iiliar to him, being very fond of pig hunting and cleer stalking in these hills. Moro residents went out from Rotorua to help in the search this morning. In places the bush is so dense that if the missing man left-the-track to rest it would bo difficult to find him without dogs. It is thought he'may have slipped in some of tho numerous washouts and been injured. Among those who are engaged in the search are two of the missing man's brothers, Messrs. D. and C. Humphreys. News was received at about mid-day that Messrs. Alfred War brick and C. Way have joined in the search. Both of them have an intimate knowledge of the locality. The missing man is about 40 years of ago. Some years ago he met with a severe : nju;'v to his head and it is feared lie may have lost his memory. It is said that there is no better bushmin in the country.
