CABLES AND WIRELESS.

ENOUGH WORK FOR BOTH. PACIFIC BOARD'S OPERATIONS. The use of wireless as a means of communication has been responsible for a decrease in "the business of the Pacific Cable Board, but there is plenty of work to keep both wireless and cable organisations employed. This is the view of Mr. R. S. Bain, superintendent of cables for the Pacific Cable Board, who arrived at Auckland last evening by the Aorangi from Vancouver. Mr. Bain ha 3 been inspecting the various depots of the board in all parts of the world, and he stated the equipment and facilities throughout were as perfect as they could be. "We are right down to bedrock as far as rates go," said Mr. Bain. "As far as I can see there is no chance of another reduction in cable rates." Mr. Bain has his headquarters in Sydney. After a short stay in Auckland he will go to Wellington, leaving there for Australia on Friday.
