CAPETOWN, Jan. 28* The fourth test match between the Marvlebcme cricket team and South Africa; was commenced at Johannesburg to-day* Marylebone, in their first innings, had lost seven wickets for 233 runs when stumps were drawn. The weather was fine. Deane won the toss and sent England in on a fast wicket. There wait a sensation before the game had gone far. Holmes being beaten by a good ball from Bissett in the second over. Sutcliff© and Tyldesley played a dour defensiva game against good bowling, and at luncheon the score was 67 for one wicket. When play was resumed excellent bowling and fielding kept the rums down. But* cliffe was obviously surprised at the decision when he was given out leg before wicket, 16 appeared rather as if he had hit the ball. England's tail wagged with a vengeance, Peebles defying all attempts to dislodge him. His passive resistance amused the spectators, and with Stables he played out « time.
