TASMAN FLIGHT FUND.

THE UNKNOWN DESTINATION. APPEAL FOR THE WIDOWS. LIST OPENED BY HERALD. Many a soldier in the war Sailed under orders to an "unknown destination," and died before reaching it. New Zealand's flying heroes, Lieutenant Monciieff and Captain Hood, went to their doom under similar circumstances. They are "missing," and they shall never have gravestones. But their memory lives in the hearts of their proud countrymen who know liovv to value courage. Tho hist sad rite that remains is to do what is possible to honour their memory and there is no better way than to make provision for their widows who courageously faced the possibility of tragedy, and in the next few hours of uncertainty died a thousand deaths themselves. The Herald therefore renews its appeal to tho flight fund in aid of Mrs. Moncrieff and Mrs. Hood. Yesterday's contributions included ono from a group of soldiers, some of whom served on Gallipoli, where Captain Hood, who returned from tho war maimed, first went into action.
