BOXING.
FEATHER-WEIGHT BOUT. WIN FOR JOHNNIE LECKIE. [BY telegraph.—press association.] NAPIER, Monday. Johnnie Leckie, New Zealand featherweight boxiiag champion, of Dunedin, Bst. 12j1b., defeated Duke Maddox, ex-cham-pion, of Hastings, Bst. 1341b., to-night. The contest ended in the ninth round when Maddox's left ankle gave out and the referee awarded the fight to Leckie. In a second match of ten rounds, Tommy Griffiths, of Dunedin, Bst. 51b., drew with F. Taylor, of Auckland, Bst., in a splendid contest. The bout, which was the closest seen here for a long time, was clean and scientific, both men displaying perfect foot and head work.
