AMIR OF AFGHANISTAN.
PI/MS FOR ENGLISH VISIT.
MODERN PROGRESSIVE RULER INTEREST IN INDUSTRIES. I By Telegraph—Pre-ss Association—Copyright. (British Official Wireless.) (Received December 30, 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. RUGBY, Dec. 23. During his Stato visit to England in March the Amir Amanulla of Afghanistan will be the guest of King George at Buckingham Palace. At the conclusion of his stay in London the Amir will make an extensive unofficial tour of the industrial areas. Ho will spend some days in Lancashire visiting the cotton mills and iron and steelworks.
Commenting on the coming visit', the Manchester Guardian extends a warm welcome to the Royal visitor, and says: "The Amir is a notable instance of the modern type of progressive Oriental monarch. He has set himself to pursue the sensible policy of developing his country slowly, without a lavish scattering of concessions to foreign exploiters. The visit of King Amanulla seems to indicate that the Afghan soil is now duly prepared for industry.
