Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Matakana xs to sail at daybreak on Monday morning for Gisborne, Napier and" Wellington to complete loading for England. She is to bo despatched from Wellington for J'inuary THE WEST TOGUS. An expected arrival about Monday is the American steamer West Togus from Pacific Coast ports. The vessel will unload 2000 cases of oil and a smaller quantity of general cargo at Auckland and then pitched wo Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to complete discharge. ' The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that' the Federal Line steamer Norfolk 13 expected to leave Napier on Wednesday for Auckland to fill up with refrigerated and general cargo for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool. • She is due next Friday and will probably be despatched for London about January 11. MAKO AND AWAHOU. Messrs. Watkin and Wallis advise that the Richardson steamer Mako is due at Auckland to-day from the East Coast and will berth at Queen's Wharf. Tho vessel is to be docked on .Wednesday morning for cleaning and painting and the samo evening she -is to be for East Coast bays, Napier a,nd Waikokopu. The Awahou is duo to-morrow from the coast and -will berth at King's Wharf. Sho is to sail at five o'clock on. Wednesday evening for Hick's Bay, Tokomaru Bay and Gisborne. THE MESOPOTAMIA. The steamer Mesopotamia, whioh arrived on Thursday night from M&katea Island, berthed at King's Wharf yesterday morning to unload her pliosphate cargo to tho agency of Henderson and Macfarlane, Limited. The vessel was at Auckland in October-, when she unloaded a sugar cargo, from Java. Afterwards she bunkered at Newcastle and also loaded 2000 tons of coal which was discharged at Papeete before she went to Makatea to load her present cargo. Since leaving Auckland generally fair weather was experienced and the voyage was uneventful. After completion of discharge it is probable that tho steamer will dock at Auckland for cleaning and painting. i NIAGARA CLEARS SUVA. The Royal Mail liner Niagara., cleared Suva at 1.30 p.m. yesterday in continuation of her voyage from Vancouver and Honolulu to Auckland. The Union Company advises that the vessel is duo at two o'clock on Monday afternoon. Sho will berth at Prince's Wharf to land passengers, mail and cargo for New Zealand. At 10 o'clock on Tuesday evening tie is to resume her voyage to Sydney. RUAHINE AT WELLINGTON. The NeT Zealand Shipping.- Company's liner Ruahine reached Wellington from London and Southampton yesterday afternoon. Eirst and second saloon passengers for Auckland left Wellington by last night's express. The third clasß passengers will leave Wellington by the Daylight Limited this morning. After unloading a quantity of general merchandise at Wellington the vessel is to come to Auckland on January 7to complete discharge. Passengers hold baggage will be brought North by the vessel. HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS. Owing to tho New Year holiday the Northern Company's visual timetable has been suspended. To-day steamers will bo cespatclied to all the usual pleasure resorts in the Hauraki Gulf and -to-morrow, Monday and Tuesday tho vessels will be engaged on excursion work. At midnight to-morrow the Clansman is to be despatched for Russell and at 7.30 p.m. on Monday the Matangi will sail for Tauranga. Tuesday s sailings will be the Clayxaore for Whangarei at 7 p.m., tho Taniwha for Paeroa at 7.30 p.m., the Waipu for Kerepeehi at .9 P.m. and the Rangitoto for Thames at midnight. Other vessels of the Hec,i will resume their timetables on Wednesday. For the convenience of passengers wishing to attend the races at Auckland the departure of the Ngapuhi from Onehunga for New 1 lymouth on Tuesday is scheduled for 6 p.m.. ihe company announces that the Hauiti is scheduled to leave Cowes at 5.45 a.m. on Wednesday and will afterwards call at Awarua, Chamberlain's, Orapuhi and Omiha en route to Auckland. The Waiuku will loave Ostend at 6.30 a.m. and Surfdale at 7 a.m. on Wednesday for Auckland. The Waiuku will leave Auckland at 9.30 a.ni. 011 Wednesday and make a trip to Waiheke, returning to Auckland the same evening. PASSAT ARRIVED. An arrival at Auckland iast evening was tho German steamer Passat, from Texas, via Australia. She berthed at Kin« s Wharf to unload 2000 tons of sulphur. The vessel left Galveston, Texas, on September 27 with 9200 tons of sulphur for discharge at tiemantle, Geelong and Auckland. She was 60 days reaching Fremantle, via the Cape of Good Hope. Sho called at Barbadoen and also at Durban to replenish her bunkers. En route from Durban to Fremantle tho vessel was buffeted by a very severe storm in the Indian Ocean. -'■ ho Btorm lasted three days, and for 24 hours tho veasel was hove to. High seas broke on board and damaged one of the boats, broke ventilators and railings and a considerab e amount of water found its way into the stokehold. Three days after leaving Melbourne for Auckland a cyclonic stqnn was f.nrountered in the Tasman Sea. Last Monday and Tuesday the wind blew stronjly from the north and north-east, and aelayctl tho vessel's progress considerably.
