HOLIDAY WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 72 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening :—Fair to cloudy and. cool weather conditions are indicated, with occasional showers, particularly in southern districts, and along the East Coast of the North Island. A scattered rainfall is expected, but improving everywhere shortly, fine weather following. Southerly to southeasterly winds, strong to gale, ruling in northern areas, and strong south-wester-lies prevailing in western and southern districts. Conditions are likely to be very boisterous, although moderating after about 24 hours. Seas rough. The recent disturbance is now passing eastward, and barometric pressure is very low off the central east coast districts of the South Island. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.901n. GOVERNMENT REPORT, The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—The centre of a depression has moved slowly to the southeastward since Thursday night, but pressure is still considerably below normal over the Dominion. Moderate to strong south-wostcrlies, later veering to westerly winds. Rather rough seas south of East Cape; elsewhere moderate. Weather cool and changeable, with passing showers at many places, but improving gradually. RAINFALL RECORD.
