OBITUARY.

MR. GEORGE GIFFEN. (Received November 29, 8.30 p.m.) A. and N.Z. ADELAIDE, Nov. 29. The death has occurred of Mr. George Gifi'en, at one time a famous cricketer. Mr. George Gifi'en was born in March, 1859, arid was considered to be the greatest all-round cricketer produced in South Australia. He visited England in 1882, 1884, 1886, 1893 and 1896. lie visited America twice. His highest score in Australia was 271 runs, which he registered against Victoria in a match at Adelaide in 1892. is is highest score in England was 180, 'which he registered against Gloucestershire in 1893. When playing for the Australian team against the Rest of Australia at Sydney, in 1884, he took all the wickets for 66 runs in tho second innings.
