TAURANGA POWER BOARD.
EXTENSION OF SERVICES. OPERATIONS AT TE PUKE. [BY telegraph.—own correspondent.] TATJRANGA. Saturday. The Tauranga Electric-Power Board met yesterday, Mr. T. Locbhead presiding. The General Purposes and Finance Committee reported in regard to the Omanawa-Te Puko lino conversion loan that tho position was that application had been made to the Local Government Loans Board for permission to raise the extra £IOOO, as provided for in the legislation, and application had also been made to the public trustee for the extra amount, provided the approval of the Loans Board is obtained. The committee also reported that requests for extensions at Katikati and at the top of Tematai Road were brought under its notice, but it was unable to recommend that these extensions be made. The resident engineer, in his report, stated that induction regulators had been installed at Te Puke sub-station, and were operating satisfactorily. The-ex-tension at Ohauiti had been completed. Supplies were given to Muirs Mine on November 7, and orders • were still coming in freely to tho installation department. Maketu extension was proceeding. •The board agreed to increase the salary of the secretary-manager, Mr. 11. P. Baigent, to £4OO per annum. The board passed a vote of sympathy with relatives of the late Mr. R. L. Smith, and voted a compassionate allowance of £SO to the widow.
