SOUTHERN CROSS.
PLANE TO ATTEMPT RECORD. LONG FLIGHT OVER LAND. (Received October 27, 7.15 p.m.) A. and N.Z. SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 26. It is understood that Lieutenant Pond will attempt to break the world s record for a sustained flight overland with the Southern Cross before Captain Kingsford Smith and his companions begin their flight to Australia in the plane.
