ADMISSION OF THEFT.

RAILWAY CLERK CHARGED, RESTITUTION ARRANGED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. Charged with the theft of sums totalling £l7 2s sd, the property of the Government, Frederick Diver, aged 35, a clerk in the parcels department of the Railway Department at Wellington, appeared before Mr. .7, H. Salmon, S.M., to-day. The chief detective asked for a remand. Mr. Anyon, for accused, said Diver had frankly confessed the theft to the stationmaster, and, having £ll9 in the superannuation fund due to him, had made arrangements for restitution. A remand was granted, with bail of £IOO, conditional on accused daily reporting to the police.
