GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD.
TAKAPUNA PLAYING FIELDS. GRANTS FROM THE GOVERNMENT. The Auckland Grammai School Board met yesterday, the chairman, Professor A. P. W Thomas, presiding. A telegram was received from the Edu nation Department stating that grants for work on the grounds of the Takapuna Grammar School had been approved The total amount of expenditure ap proved is £B2O and will be spent in tav irtg out playing areas, paths arid quad raiigle. It was reported that £175 hn> been received from the Returned Sold iers' Association and the Devonport Un employed Returned Soldiers' Relief Com mittee, and the department had been asked to subsidise this sum A communication from the Minister of Education advised that the title deed of the school house at the Mount Alberi Grammar School had been vested m the board. , L'he department stated that a subsidy ol £177 4s 9d had been granted foi work on the Mount Albert playing fields. No furthei grants or subsidies would be made. The headmaster of the Mount Albert Grammai School reported that Mrs. Ward Bauer wished to present a cup to the school for the junior championship in the annual steeplechase. The board ae cepted the donation with thanks.
