COMMERCE OF EMPIRE.
CONFERENCE AT CAPETOWN. SUBJECTS FOR DISCUSSION. (Received September 15. 5.5 p.m.) Sun. LONDON. Sept. 14. The conference of the Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire to be opened at Capetown on October 4 will specially consider the development of Imperial preference and the removal of inter-Imperial trade barriers. The Dudley Chamber will protest against protection for uneconomic industries The Belleville Chamber will urge free trade within the Empire. The London Chamber will advocate Imperial penny postage and non-taxation of non-resident principals throughout the Empire and will also suggest devices for overcoming pilferage.
