CENTRAL BOARD'S AREA.
EXTENSION OF SERVICES.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COJiKESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON. Wednesda> Ihe Central Electric Powei Board met at Hamilton , to-day, the chairman Mr T. Hinton, presiding. At the opening r the meeting a motion of condolence Vith the relatives oi the late Hon. R. Bollard was carried in silence. The engineer, Mr. J. R. Ellis, reported that approximately half of the 11,000 volt extension to the Renown Colleries ad been livened up and a transformer erected to supply four milking plants and lighting installations. A large number ot low-tension lines had been ex tended to meet the increased demand for power lor all purposes. The changing of insulators on the Tenfoot 11,000-volt circuit had been completed. During the month 129 poles were erected and 1791 chains oi wire was run. Connections for the month totalled 154, representing a large increase. Ser vices completed numbered 54, making the total connections to date 5254. The total 'lumber of consumers was 2794. The engineer suggested that a stage ot development had oeen reached when it would be economical to procure plant for the treatment of oil in transformers while the transformers were in position The matter of obtaining the necessary plant was left in the hands of the en gineer. Advice was received trom the tx>ard's brokers that the loan of £12,000 for the Te Kauwhata extension had been sue essfully raised by the sale of debentures bearing interest at 5| per cent.

MANUFACTURE OF POLES
[BV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] OPQTIKI. Wednesday The Bay of Plenty Power Board met to-day, Mr. H. R Hogg presiding. A letter was received from the Te Puke Town Board asking the board to sell 20 concrete poles It was resolved to do so, subject to their erection being according to instruction from the Power Board's engineers. The engineer's report stated that the total number of ppies made at Opotski to the end of August was 1531, and at Whakatane 337 It was expected the Ojvotikr yards would be closed m two weeks' time. Material was now arriving and construction work would be com rnenced very shortly. The canvass for loading to "date showed 1209 kilowatts, 266 guarantees, and a total guarantee per annum of £9213 The miles of line covered by the guarantees was 88| It was proposed to call tenders for the first block of 100 installations. It was resolved to send a schedule of rates to each dairy factory m the district The engineers will be prepared to give advice as to the class of motor required
