A handsome memorial to the late Keha Wikamo, a chief of the district, whose » ■ _,.,gv-5 death occurred some months ago, was nn * veiled at the Maori buna! ground »t Otaika yesterday. There was a very t«rg» attendance of natives and Europeans from surrounding districts and the ceremony was most impressive. The Ratana was flown prominently and four mimstef' of the Ratana church officiated. Prior , the unveiling an oration was delivered ty - Uunapirori and translated by Pita Then all present touched the ribbons ana the memorial was nayeit^i. The figure, mounted on a massive 8 r j', pedestal, is of marble, and the mona>Ti e is 12ft high from the base. . The late chief was of quiet disposition, | but exercised a great influence own * «| people. His dhief interest was a ful genealogical record ol his people.
