J [FROM OUR OWN CORRRSPpNDKKT.] VANCOUVER, Ang. 22The Canadian papers, from Montreal to Vancouver, have been featuring the photographs of the young ladies that have been chosen by the Prince of Wales for his 'dancing partners. The story is t<4d that he accorded the largest measure of „ his favour and companionship to Miss Valerie Jones, an Ontario girl, with whom the Prince danced all night at a country club and, when the danoe ended at 3.45 a.m., called for baoon and eggs for two, and shared breakfast with her. When the young lady arrived home a telephone message ccme, asking her mother to allow ner to be the Prince's companion at a yachting picnic that day. ' It is all taken to be a tribute from the Prince to the memory of the girl's father. " a Canadian colonel, who was killed io action leading his men at Amiens in August, 1918. Before that he had woo the Distinguished Service Order and Military Cross. At the ball at Vancouver, tendered by the Seaforth Highlanders, of whom the Prince is colonel-in-chief, he danced bat four times, with married women, and spent the remainder of tie evening calling at the dinner of the "Old Contemptible#, . chatting to each of them, and in friendly { conversation with the Seaforths in his - private quarters at the hotel where the " ball was held. It was the night of the death of the Premier of British Columbia, "Honest John" Oliver, for whom the Prince had a great admiration for his pioneering ploits as an axeman on the coast-to-coast railway. The fact that he refrained from |jj dancing was taken as his tribute to the veteran 'politician. The State ball at Government House at Victoria was cancelled and the Prince and his brother ; spent the week-end privately, playing g golf.
