RIVER STILL RISING.

CONDITIONS AT MERCER. WATER OVER THE ROADWAY. EFFECT OF HEAVY RAINS. More rain fell in the lower Waikato district yesterday, causing the river to ris« still further. Inquiries made last everting showed that tha depth of water over the Great South Road at the back of the Mercer railway station was 16in, Although motor-cars were still travelling over that section of the road, it is expected it will be impassable this morning. Horses will be available if the necessity arises. The edge of the water is gradually approaching the railway line near the station platform.
