CANTERBURY NOTES. OPERATIONS AT ADDINGTON. TRACKS IN GOOD ORDER. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. The tracks at Addington are :n capital order at present, but very few trainers are sending their iiorses along fast, most of the work being of the useful order. E. C. McDermott has so far recovered from the accident to his. hand which he suffered in a fall at Addington last month that the thumb is out of splints. Although he ia supervising the work of his team'some time will elapse before he is able to taek a, metre active part in the preparation of his horses. St. Maura and Peter Bingen worked out a useful mile at Addington yesierday. The former led for tnree-uqarters of the distance and then Peter Bingen drew level, the pair coming home over the last quarter of a mile at top speed. It was a capital piece of work and both pacers went well. Springtime "and Trimmer went a mile and a quarter at a good clip yesterday morning and both pacers did 'their work satisfactorily. Trimmer seems to be putting plenty of vigour into his work at present. Master Don does not look as though he will be seen at the races for some time. After a work out he was very lame. The pacer Stan Wilkes is in work at Addington, but his recent efforts have not been impressive. He is working in saddle. who is by Nelson Bingen from Neeratte, the dam of Glenelg Bingencetto and Ingle Bingen, is being trained by M. B. Edwards at Yaldhurst. In the past. Neerson has not raced up to his training form. At present he looks well. The Wellington-owned Hori Dillon was brought South by M. B. Edwards on his return from the Auckland meeting last June. Hori Dillon showed some good form when raced at the "Wellington Club's meeting and may show further improvement. Wharepiana is a peculiar mare, as she can go fast and possesses stamina, but she is none too reliable in a race. She won decisively at Addington, however, on a track that did not suit many pacers. Wharepiana is in fine form at present. E. C. McDermott is well pleased with his Author Dillon—Capriccio colt, who is now two years old. It is not intended to do muck in the meantime with the youngster. who is still growing, and he may not be raced for some time.
Meb :s going on satisfactorily in her training, but' it may be some time before she is ready to race. Meb showed some useful form last season and it is possible she will improve this season, especially over a two-mile journey. Routine looks as though he will be at his best in a few* weeks in spite of the fact that he has not been long at Addington. It is quite evident he did a lot of useful solid work throughout the winter months. The American mare Lou Lee seems to be on the improve. J. J. Kennerley i>> not hurrying her in her training, but she is settling dowh to her work and pacing now with plenty q£ freedom. B. Jarden has Author Wood going really well. This young pacer promises to race in good style when next, hp is started. Heis furnishing into a fine type of pacer.
