DEVCNPORT'S POSITION. "This scheme affords no benefit to the North Shore," said Mr. W. S. Campbell at a meeting of the Devonport Borough Council last evening, When the minutes of the >ecent conference of local bodies for the revision of local government were received. The council was also asked to appoint representatives. " 1 pointed that out at the meeting,' said the Mayor, Mr. E. @Aldridge. "The drainage questions, water and transport problems of the city are all separate and different from our own. Devonport is one of 30 and can only have a still, small voice in local government matters. 1 favour the formation of a metropolitan council this aide of the water." it was agreed that the' council should be represented at future conferences, 'and .f. F. J. Ellisdon was appointed.
