ROSE GARDEN FAIR.
Roses formed the chief decoration in a sale of work held at St. George's Hall, Epsom, yesterday. The fair was opened in the afternoon by Mrs. Averill, who, in a short speech, congratulated the workers on the attractive stalls and the effective decoration of the hall. Before Mrs. Averill declared the fair open she was presented with a bouquet by twolittle girls.
Long lines of coloured paper roses were suspended from the middle of the ceiling and stretched from there to the walls in graceful loops, and baskets of ferns were also suspended overhead. At the front of each stall there was a network of roses, each having a colour scheme of its own. In one corner of the room small afternoon tea-tables were secluded behind graceful palms. The whole effect was very bright and pleasing and well merited the name of " rose garden." Ladies of the congregation were in charge of the following stalls:—Cakes, sweets, fancy work, flowers and produce.
