PROPOSED LOAN FOR ONEHUNGA.

Sir, —It is indeed very interesting reading to find the Onehunga Borough Council proposing to borrow another huge sum of money to put side streets down in con* ciete. While appreciating all the virtues of concrete for roading purposes, I have no doubt that at the present moment it would be very unwise for the council to go in for such a course of borrowing My reason for writing in protest is that for some reason the Onehunga Council seeras once again to be subservient to the Auckland City Council, as witness their recent actions in submitting to the penalising of the residents of Onehunga per medium of the increased tram fares, with ,t!he consequent result of large numbers leaving ths town. If the council wants to see Onehunga progress it is essential that they insist upon having a cheap and efficient transport service and not take an obsolete system which the Auckland City Council desires to force upon them.
