NOTES FROM TE PUKE.
STONE-CRUSHER PURCHASE. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN- CORRESPONDENT.] TB PUKE, Wednesday. At a meeting of Te Puke ratepayers yesterday it was decided to purchase a portable stone-crusher, at an approximate cost of £IOOO. Oil fuel will be used to drive the crusher, as the quotation for electric current was stated to be excessive. A resolution was adopted urging the Government to speed up the railway service between' Tauranga and Taneatua, so as to compete'successfully with the motor service on steamer days. Another resolution was carried asking the Government to arrange with the railway contractors, the Sir W. G. Armstrorfg, Whitworth Company, for the carriage of stock over the line between Tauranga and Waihi.
