A protest against the suggested curtailment of the powers of education boards has been forwarded to the Minister of Education by the Ponsonby Schools Committee.

Under our jurisdiction are four schools of a totM roll number of 2500 children, probab y the greatest number of children controlled bv any one school committee in the LO- - Thus, in the carrying out of our duties we are constantly in contact ana have frequent dealings with the Auckland Education Board * 'We have alwavs found the board has disposed of all matters submitted to it with the utmost efficiency, and that it na been unfailing in courtesy; in short, ttrn its administration of educational affairs a met with the absolute approval of us ailHence, we deem it our duty to protest against anv interference bv the Goveinment with the powers of education boards as at present constituted, which na\ rendered every satisfaction and the tion of which, we consider, would lea endless confusion where, until prese , has "existed the utmost harmony.
