ODDFELLOWS' LODGE.
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED.
The Loyal Good Intent Lodge of the Manchester Unity Oddfellows celebrated the 77th anniversary of its formation last week.
At an anniversary social, Mr. J. E. Allan, N.G., stated the lodge was founded on July 15, 1850, in the Wheatsheaf Inn, Queen Street, when 18 candidates were initiated. To-day the membership was over 700. From the foundation of the lodge to 1916 the lodge controlled its benefit funds, amounting, at that date, to over £16,000, when, owing to the consolidation of the lodges in the Auckland district, the funds were merged in the larger body. Mr. Thomas Aitken, G.M.N.Z., gave an interesting address on the progress and the various activities of the branch.
