NORTHAMPTONSHIRE MATCH LEAD ON FIRST INNINGS. VISITORS DELIGHT THE CROWD. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. A. and N.Z. LONDON. June 13. When the New Zealand cricketers resumed their match against Northamptonshire this morning they gave the spectators 90 minutes of cricket as it should be played, so one leading critic remarked. He said they were perhaps inspired by the brilliant summer sunshine and the rural prettiness of the Kettering ground. The two not out men, Page and James, set the example by playing confidently. Pago was bowled in attempting to make a big hit. James was unluckily beaten bv a ball which he did not attempt to play. Dacre gave a display which rejoiced the hearts of those who like to see the ball hit. He scored 20 off four consecutive balls, including two sixes. He was caught at leg in trying to bring off another big hit. Oliver, unmindful of the' state of the score, continued the good work. He hit Wills for 15 in one over. Bernau hit with power and discretion. Today's batsmen scored 165 in 90 minutes. Although the earlier batsmen for the local eleven brought about a sort of anti-climax Wright and Pennington emulated the example of the New Zealanders to the great delight of the crowd.
