BRITAIN AND EGYPT.
AGREEMENT IN SIGHT. ARMY CONTROL DISPUTE. (Received June 14, 7.58 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON. June 13. A message from Cairo says it is semiofficially announced that an agreement, is in sight between Britain and Egypt in connection with the dispute about the control of the Egyptian army. It is said that the basis of the agreement will be that Britain will be given an assurance that certain of her fears arc unfounded. An undertaking will also be given, it is stated, that the Egyptian Parliament will in future fake into account the fact that certain matters of a military and a diplomatic character must be discussed with the greatest circumspection. An official British wireless message says the High Commissioner for Egypt, Lord Llovd, lias been in constant touch' with the Egyptian Government about the question of the control of the Egyptian army and that friendly conversations still proceeding The Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Mr. G. T. Locker-Lanipson, to-day said he hoped circumstances would permit of a fuller statement being made shortly.
