OUTLET FOR TRAFFIC.
BELGIUM STREET SCHEME. PROPERTY-OWNERS* POSITION. In view of the fact that the plans of a scheme for providing an additional traffic outlet by way of Belgium Street have been approved by the Auckland City Council, the engineer, Mr. W. E. Bush, recommended to the council last evening that early consideration should be given to ways and means of carrying the proposal into effect. This -would enable property-owners on the route, who contemplated making alterations to their premises to prepare their plans accordingly. In the ease of Messrs. G. A. Coles and Company, who sought a definite reply to their previous inquiry whether their property would be affected by the scheme, Mr. Bush stated the new road would go right through the property and would, he considered, necessitate the taking of the whole property. The Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, ■ made it clear the council had approved only of the plans; the scheme itself had not yet 'approved. On his motion, the matter was referred to the Works Committee.
