So many deaths have been caused in some o! the outlying suburbs lately that the municipalities are threatening to restrict cars to 25 miles an hour in certain zones regarded as dangerous. No limitation of this kind, however, will do away with careless driving and "jay walking," which are at the bottom of the majority of accidents. "If they limit cars to 25 mile 3? I am going back to the old 'geegees,' " said an alderman at a meeting of a suburban council last week. One body has gone as far as to propose that cars capable of travelling at more than 30 miles an hour should be refused licences altogether. One council this week went to the length of recommending that all motor vehicles in the County of Cumberland, -which comprises the Sydney district, should be limited to 25 miles an hour, and to four miles an hour when near schools.
