ELECTION RECOUNTS.

CITY COUNCIL RESULTS. ONE CHANGE PROBABLE. MR. G. BROWNLEE'S POSITION. CHECKING OF DECLARATIONS. The official count of votes cast by enrolled electors in the poll for the Auckland City Council is considered practically certain to result in a change in the personnel compared with the provisional count on Wednesday evening. The final figures have yet to be checked and totalled, but the indications are that Mr. G. Brownlee, a member of the retiring council, who was last on the list of successful candidates on Wednesday, will be replaced by Mr. A. J. Stallworthy. Should the margin between the two candidates be slight, the result will still be in doubt until the votes by declaration are checked and allocated. A total of 298 citizens claimed the right to vote by declaration. Up to yesterday 132 of these claims had been checked, but only 15 had been admitted by the returning officer, Mr. P. F. Notley. In the majority of cases, the names of the admitted 15 were on the roll, but for some reason the poll-clerks had refused ordinary ballotpapers. Finality in the count is expected to 5 e reached this afternoon, when the final results in the Auckland Harbour and Hospital Boards elections should also be available. Figures which have been taken out in connection with the latter elections indicate that there will be no change in the personnel, although there may be an alteration in the positions of two of the successful candidates for the Hospital Board. MT. ALBERT ALTERATION. A MEMBER REINSTATED. The official count of votes in the Mount Albert Borough Council election has been completed. In A ward Mr. H. L. Kayes. who was previously announced as one of the two successful candidates, has been displaced by Mr. W. G. Russell, a member of the retiring council, who occupied third place in the preliminary count. Following are details of the voting in A ward: — SUCCESSFUL. Official. Provisional. P. Floyd ... 778 778 W. G. Russell .. 654 624 UNSUCCESSFUL. H. L. Kayes .. . 627 632 H. Elliott ~.. 574 556 In the three other wards the total rrarabef of votes cast for each candidate is slightly altered, but the results of the elections are in no way affected.
